Members and friends of the Outer Banks Running Club stage the first Land of Beginnings Festival fun run April 4. About 20 children and fun-loving adults ran the mile around the monument and down the history path to the stone tribute marking the point of the first successful landing by the Wright Brothers.

Ron Farley and Margot Ostrander staff the finish line at the first "Our Feet Have Wings" fun run. They handed out special fun run medals supplied by Kelly's Hospitality Group, and customized finisher ribbons donated by the Outer Banks Running Club.

Nags Head Woods Elementary School Second Grader Hunter Snyder was a speed demon in the first "Our Feet Have Wings" fun run. Snyder was way ahead of the next runner, finishing in 7 minutes -- a really fast time for his young age. Hunter proudly dons his little porpoise medal donated by Kelly's, and his Outer Banks Running Club finisher ribbon.

Park Ranger Steve Thompson couldn't resist jumping into the "Our Feet Have Wings" 1-Mile Fun Run, and displays his medal and finisher ribbon with pride. He said a lot of his co-workers were going to be jealous of him, as he sported his trophies throughout the day at the Land of Beginnings Festival at the Wright Brothers Memorial.

A youngster streams down the historical finish line path during the Land of Beginnings 1-Mile fun run April 4, in what was likely his very first race of such a long distance. He did a great job!
