The club's training runs
start at First Flight Middle School,
Monday and Wednesday at 6 a.m.,
Wednesdays at 4 p.m.,
and Saturday at 7 a.m. Monday is tempo day, running around 35
seconds faster per mile than estimated marathon race pace, for a
specific period of time. Wednesday is for speed workouts on the
First Flight High School track, or hill training at the Wright
Brothers monument. Wednesday
afternoons are for easy short-distance runs. Saturdays
are for long runs, which are usually 6 plus, depending on each
person's training plan.
For those who want cross-training
options, the Outer Banks Triathlon Club bicycles on Saturdays
and Sundays at 9 a.m. from the Market Place parking lot in Kitty
Hawk. The Saturday group pedals around 20 to 24 miles per hour
for 30 miles. The Sunday group pedals around 17 to 20 miles per
